Today the students will take a quiz on what they have learned this far about ecology. After the quiz, they will begin notes on the water cycle and do a water cycle activity.
Objectives
- Students will take a Quiz on the basics of ecology, key terms, food chains, food webs, consumers and producers, and energy pyramids.
- All previous days objectives combined.
“Who can tell me how energy flows through an ecosystem based on yesterday’s lesson?”
-Energy flows from the eaten to the eater.
“Does energy flow in multiple directions?”
-No, energy flows in a one way stream.
“What are the importance of decomposers and detrivores in a food web?”
- They recycle the energy and nutrients
Learning Activities
Closing
Today we worked with some food webs and saw how certain organisms depend on one another. Thinking about how we live our lives on a daily basis can someone tell me where we as humans would be located in an energy pyramid? –The top
Imagine how life would be different if we weren’t at this location?
What are some things that might not exist or be drastically different if we were at some other trophic levels….
- We would constantly be on guard to make sure we weren’t being eaten.
- If we were producers we wouldn’t ever need to eat (for example everyday norms such as eating dinner, going grocery shopping, even having kitchens in our houses would not exist.).
